Who’s reading?
The same practice serves four people differently. Pick yours to see what it does for you.
Every week, a short WhatsApp report tells you what your child is getting wrong and what to practise next.

One question, followed from a student’s working to what they practise next.
The question
1/2 + 1/3
Add a half and a third — a sum nearly every student meets, and many get wrong.
A student’s working
(1 + 1)/(2 + 3)
The tops were added together (1 + 1), and so were the bottoms (2 + 3), giving 2/5.
The diagnostic layer
This working suggests the tops and the bottoms were added separately: fractions can only be added once they share a denominator.
A quick sense check agrees: 2/5 is smaller than 1/2 — but adding 1/3 to 1/2 has to give more than 1/2. One answer alone doesn’t prove a misconception, which is why practice keeps checking it.
The correct working
3/6 + 2/6so5/6
Halves and thirds both fit into sixths: 1/2 becomes 3/6, and 1/3 becomes 2/6. Then only the tops are added.
A clear next step
Practise rewriting fractions over a common denominator before adding, with a few questions that check the denominator each time.
Targeted practice
A few questions that check the denominator each time, chosen for this gap.
Parent report
The weekly WhatsApp report notes what improved and what still needs work.
Teacher explanation
Why fractions need a common denominator before they can be added, explained step by step.
WhatsApp delivery
Practice, feedback and reports arrive in the same WhatsApp chat.
Step 1: Register on WhatsApp
A parent verifies by OTP, then adds the child's class, board, subject and exam pattern.
Step 2: Free diagnostic
A short adaptive test finds your child's real starting point — not their grade label.
Step 3: Targeted practice
Tests arrive on WhatsApp. Wrong answers are looked at for the misunderstanding behind them, and practice follows that gap.
Step 4: Weekly parent report
A plain-language WhatsApp report on what improved and what still needs work.
What a parent receives each week
A short report on WhatsApp, in plain language. Here is what one could look like.
Weekly report
Maths · sample student
Topic this week
Fractions3 / 5 correct (example score)
Observed difficulty
Adding fractions with different denominators.
In 1/2 + 1/3, the working went (1 + 1)/(2 + 3). This suggests the tops and the bottoms were added separately.
Suggested next step
Practise rewriting fractions over a common denominator before adding, with a few questions that check the denominator each time.
How to read it
Highlighted on the report: Topic and score.
Which topic the week’s practice covered and how many questions were right. On its own a score says little — the next two lines are the useful part.
What the working suggests went wrong, in plain words. It points to one idea to work on. It is not a verdict on your child.
What the next practice will focus on. It also gives you something specific to talk about — for example, “Why can’t you just add the bottom numbers of two fractions?”
A report can tell you
- Which topics were practised this week
- What kind of mistake the working suggests
- What the next practice will focus on
It can’t tell you
- What your child will score in a school exam
- Whether one wrong answer means a lasting gap — that needs more questions
- Everything a teacher sees in class
One wrong question costs more trust than ten good ones build.
Every maths answer is checked before your child sees it
Before a maths question reaches a student, a separate code step solves it independently and checks the expected answer.
This check applies to the mathematical answer of each question. It is a safeguard against arithmetic errors, not a guarantee that every question or explanation is perfect.
What the code check covers
- The final mathematical answer of each maths question
- A safeguard against arithmetic errors in the expected answer, run before a student sees the question
What it doesn’t cover
- Whether every question is perfectly worded
- Whether every explanation is perfect
- Subjects other than maths — this particular check is for maths answers
Are results being measured?
With parent consent, we're tracking real school exam marks — before and after — for enrolled students. Not app scores or streaks. Results will be published here when the study is complete, whatever they show.

This is how practice feels for a student: a wrong answer gets a reason, not just a cross.

Why Shadow Tuition exists
To find every student's real learning gap — not their grade label — and close it, one understood mistake at a time.
Who’s behind it
Shadow Tuition is founded and built by Rohan, a practising teacher in Gurugram.
More about usWhat we hold to
- Diagnosis over guessing
- We don't serve a question until we know what it will tell us.
- Evidence over engagement
- Understanding is checked later, in a new form — not by streaks or same-session accuracy.
- Trust over hype
- Questions are checked before a student sees them. One error costs more than ten good questions build.
Questions parents ask
Something not covered here? Write to query@shadowtuitions.com or use the contact page.
Will this replace my child's tuition or school?
No. It's a practice and diagnostic tool, not a substitute for classroom teaching. Results depend on your child's own engagement, as with any tool.
Do you guarantee my child's marks will improve?
No. We don't guarantee any specific exam outcome or score. What we do is show you what your child is getting wrong and why, every week, so you can act on it.
How much does it cost?
₹399 per month, per student, or ₹20 for a single test if you'd rather try one first. The diagnostic is free.
Who can register?
A parent or guardian registers and verifies by OTP on their own WhatsApp number. Students are minors, so the parent is the account holder.
Is my child's data safe?
Registration is parent-verified. We don't use student data for advertising and we don't sell personal data. Our full Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.
What if I want to cancel?
Cancel anytime. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. Full terms are in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Which boards and grades are covered?
